Event Kick-off: On June 6th, 2024, we will convene in Damascus, VA, for a pre-hike rally to gather the team for an essential briefing. The journey begins on June 7th, as we set out on the Appalachian Trail, continuing our mission northward from where we last paused.
This year’s hike through the Appalachian is not just a physical journey but a test of will, designed to challenge even the most seasoned hikers. With daily distances ranging between 15 to 20 miles through steep, rugged terrain, this hike demands excellent physical condition, mental resilience, and advanced hiking skills.
Participants will navigate through demanding sections of the trail, facing the elements head-on—from the relentless sun to the unpredictable storms that define the Appalachian's untamed environment. This endeavor goes beyond a traditional hiking experience; it's a rigorous mission that echoes the courage and endurance of the officers we honor.
Travel Arrangements: All volunteers must arrange their travel to Damascus, VA. To support your commitment, the Honor Hike Foundation will coordinate local transportation logistics, including any necessary arrangements to commence our trail journey.
As the event date draws near, selected volunteers will receive detailed information about the hike, including the official itinerary and guidelines to prepare for the demands of this challenging trail.
